Best mountain bike for £600?

The most important thing for me is the forks, the gears and the brakes.

Any advice on buying and/or suggestions on a good bike for the money would be greatly appreciated.

    I have just bought a Giant Talon 3 (£599) for the wife & it's really good. Very good frame & reasonable components. Will be worth keeping & upgrading longterm.

    You may be able to get a 2011 Genesis Core 20 within your budget.

    Evans has got the Core 30 but it is about £680 so a wee bit over. great bike though and better colour.
