Bar end plugs: How to know the correct size?

I recently lost one of the bar end caps from my Kona Jake cyclocross bike (dropdown bars) so I purchased these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=60733 It turns out though that they are too small and won't do the job. No great loss, but how do I know the correct ones to purchase? Any recommendations?

yep those are MTB ones not road ones.

Are you planning on retaping your bars any time soon ?
If so - just buy the bar tape now - and it comes with end plugs.
