Thinking about getting the frame as the last upgrade to the commuter/winter training bike, does anyone here ride one / have any experiance of one?

Or would i be better picking going down the ribble winter frame or the equilibrium frame?

seems a lot of people like thier equilibriums.

Had the Racelight T as a winter bike - I miss it . . .

Reliable, sturdy, good for rack/full guards, fairly quick, not especially light.

    Better than a Ribble? No idea . . . .

Join the Equilibriati, you know it makes sense.

See if I test ride one i'm going to like it I just can't find any where local with a T2 to try as well to compare and I do like the cherry red.

Does it feel like a heavy bike though? 6lbs for the frame seems heavy to me?

  • I think the 6 lbs is Frame and forks together, and I'm not even sure about that. Apparently the complete Genesis Equilibrium 20 tips the scales at 9.3 KG, which is about the same weight as any aluminium bike of a similar price.

I had the TK (circa 2008) which is the TK2 in the old colour way.
I before settling on the TK I did test the racelight T and the ribble winter bike.

The racelight T is about the same weight as the ribble, and marginally more compliant on the rear stays.
However the racelight TK is a cut above in terms of comfort and response. I think this is due to the kinesium alloy (as opposed to double butted 7005 in the racelight T).

I recently swapped over to the Genesis Equilibrium 2010 (Reynolds 520 chromoly) because I wanted something with a bit longer head-tube (I am now 42years old after all!).
It is marginally heavier than the racelight, but much, much more comfortable.
A real joy to ride. Very responsive, and with decent wheels it climbs very capably.

I enjoy it so much that I swapped over the ultegra groupset and wheels from my Spesh Roubaix and carried on using the Equilibrium through last summer.
I am now thinking of selling the Roubaix frameset and keeping just one bike.

I'd deffo go for the Equilibrium!
