Paddles - get touring ones. Don't listen to people who tell you to get river ones

Good advice. I went mad and treated myself to a Werner Ikelos, full carbon porn paddle

One of my cadets has just spent put £230 on a carbon paddle  Personally I make do with a £35 TNP paddle :)
Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men
  • Don't stress about kayak buoyancy and all that stuff, you're not going to the arctic!

The only thing to bear in mind is weight..... FSRT which is the useful one.

    yup.

Oh and watch out for locals playing banjos

  • I've been worrying myself about the kayak I'd bought, that it was a little small/old/unsuitable/shit, so I have purchased this touring jobbie that's more suited.......

    You're just jealous.

I have a lendal kinetic cranked full carbon, and a mitchell straight full carbon. Awwwwww yeah.

The second boat looks more appropriate, but really you're going to do far better to stop buying boats until you know what you want a bit better. Join a club already! If you're in the Essex area you're very welcome to have a play in my sea kayak.

To be fair the £35 paddle is more than enough for my use at the current time. I don't do competitions or any hefty white water so I don't need anything expensive. a case of equipping according to needs at the moment
