That less than 70years after the end of the second war europe (well eurozone) is basically looking to Germany as it's savior.

Maybe it was the inter-war German recession that put Hitler off the idea of simply buying the rest of europe? :-D

To be fair, although the poor b4stards are going to be paying for it this time, they won't get actual ownership. Again. History repeating itself?

At the risk of sounding like a Hitler, erm, sorry, History Channel addict, didn't the Nazis plan to undermine the UK economy at one point by flooding it with forged banknotes? Strange to think that the Bank of England is now doing similar (without the forgery bit, obviously) in the form of QE in order to prop the economy up!

Just the tax Germany has to pay for keeping interest rates far too high for the European periphery.

Europe paid for German reunification so I have no issue with Germany paying to keep the Eurozone unified

we should have taken the hint back in the 60's when De Gaulle wouldn't let us join in.
    (there's gratitude for you)

if things had happened the way they wanted the cold war would have been the yanks & probably us trying to stop the French, Germans, Italians from gaining control of europe & kicking off again, you only have to look at the Treaty of Rome to see what was possibly going through their minds

from another angle you only have to check out the list of manufacturers who not only got through the Nazi period but came out smelling of roses,
BMW, BASF, Hugo Boss, Channel, Ford (of the good ol' usa) there are loads of them spread all over the world, wasn't the third reich supposed to last a 1000 years
