Stolen Recovered

My young lads bike (Giant Trance) was stolen from our garage on Friday night, I chased after them but they got away down an alleyway - I was in my car.
They sped past a local pub and were seen by several customers who gave me the name of the guy on the bike.
To cut a long story short, the police arrested him at his house tonight and recovered the bike
My son was devistated when it went (broke his heart - he is only 12), but he is now over the moon that this guy has been arrested, the insurance has paid out and we have already ordered a new bike - I guess it's theirs now!!
So at least some of the people get caught, I'll update again hopefully he will be charged tonight and kept locked up!!!!
Still anoyed myself as I'm off with the kid's this week and we had planned to do loads of MTB riding - we've had to go out on the road bikes instead

Good to hear you recovered the bike and an arrest was made.
Even if the bike was a top of the range DH rig and was valued at £5000+ the magistrate will treat is as bicycle theft, which is usually handled as a minor crime
Rest assured the thieving scumbag will be slapped on the wrists and be released back into the community where he will offend again.
However, had he lifted a block of cheese from Tesco, that would be "shoplifting" and probably carry more serious consequences for the thief.
The best cure is prevention, if anything, learn from the experience and shackle your bikes to something unmovable.0 -

My son had put loads of posters up around the village and the lad arrested lives locally.
I think he may have a previous record so hopefully he'll get what's coming to him......
Anyway I'll make sure we get some statements from the kid's, my youngest who saw them breaking in was terrified.
As the garage is attached to the house and has a door into the house it will be treated as burgalary. Plus the same guy stole a bike 4 weeks ago from our garage, they came back on that bike and left it when we disturbed them!!______________________________________________

If you have his name and know where he lives you could always let me know, i promise he'll come to no harm
My cousin has had two 3 grand bikes stolen in 6 months so now hes not buying another till he moves house. n ive lost a riding buddy. Some folk just need stringing up.0 -

Been released on police bail - he has not admitted taking it, I think the witnesses may be a bit reluctant to go to court.
Hopefully they may get some evidence from our property or the other bike they came on.______________________________________________

02:05 onwards, very prolific thief. 5 months suspended and banned from the trains. Pathetic.
Interesting watching the whole lot from part 1 - http://youtu.be/6AdugFzCi24
So easy to nick the things, even with the big locks costing £100s0
