New Groupset - Cable Question

Hi All,

I picked up a SRAM Force groupset in the Merlin Sale recently and it arrived with "naked" cables pre-attached to the shifters and no cable housing.

Not a huge issue but I just wanted some advice on the best course of action as I need new outers when I rebuild the Infinito for next summer.

The reason I ask is that I thought the SRAM cables were Gore and part of their excellent performance related to the quality of the cables AND outers so I am reluctant to use just any outers I can find - or does it not matter?

Other option is to fork out for the Gore/SRAM cable set with outers.

Your thoughts please

Thanks mate - wasn't sure as it related to a purchase but you're probably right.

This is where you find out the difference between buying new parts, or OEM equipment, stripped of a bike!
If they were new & boxed, you would have indeed got the SRAM/Gore cables, and not fitted to the levers on arrival.
Check carefully when looking at 'cheap' offers, and you will find that the chains, cassettes & cables are all 'open' to being replaced by a different groupset part.
Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!
