Which Shifters? Retro M750 XT's or Newer SLX's

Hi.
Somehow I've just ended up with a pair of "Retro" silver colour Shimano XT shifters (M750's) and also a set of newer black SLX shifters - I blame bidding fever!
Anyway, I want to upgrade the shifters on my old Trek VRX 200 from the current Deore ones and I'm interested to know what the main differences are and what would I notice between the 2 x sets I've got. Obviously one set is an older model and technology changes etc etc (but is it like choosing between a brand new Ford Focus or an older, 2nd hand BMW for the same money? - I'd take the BM every time!)
Any advice appreciated, to save having to fit both sets and do loads of testing
Fanx in advance
ps, I did ask a similar question before, though that was about NEW XT's, which I decided I couldn't stretch to.

it does not matter they both work."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

thanks for that
Was hoping for a little more insight though0 -
You probably wont notice any difference between them, its more about setting them up correctly than the type.0

like what?
this is the tech section not buying advice.
and with the info provided there is little to go on.
are the old XT old and worn out? (could be from 1999).......
and this is also presuming that the SLX is the 9spd and not the 10spd.
so again with the info provided they could work."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I'd go for the SLX as things like this have moved on quite a way in recent years.0

SLX get two way release, the early XT ones didn't have that. So I would go with the SLX purely for that feature.
SLX also come with blanking plates if you want to remove the indicators. You can remove the indicators on M750 but then you need to use tape or something to block the hole that is left.0
