What are Canti Sockets?

Hey , i im buying a mongoose fireball 2011, and i was looking at the RST Dirt forks that come with it, on http://www.bike24.de/p223203.html , and it says it has canti sockets, but i dont know what they are ? Also are these forks okay for basic downhill riding? Thanks

the guys are right, they are lugs on the front of the forks so you can run rim brakes, the link you posted won't help you ars they do not have any fitted.....here is a pic of some fox forks with them fitted:

You don't need canti-sockets, and oddly, the photo on the link shows forks without them. These forks are not ideal for DHing by any stretch of the imagination, but will you be able to get from the top of the hill to the bottom fast and in 1 piece? Yes. If nothing else they should be tough.A Flock of Birds

Depends what you want to use it for.
Jumping, or just riding down a hill OK, mountain biking you'd probably be better off with http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 65499#dtab
if you want to ride up some hills as well.
Or Rockriders from Decathlon.I don't do smileys.
