will a bike that has been bought off the internet have all the gears set-up properly so will just be a case of assembling the handlebars and pedals ?

thanks

    Depends on the company.

Most I've bought from are sort handle bars and put on pedals.

You will need to tweak it whatever after a month or so.

Maybe maybe not. It's something you need to be able to do on an ongoing basis anyway

There is no difference in the knowledge or technique involved though......

As a guide though, I spoke to the daughter (who works in bikehut for Halfords), at the PDI's she reckons on the cheap and nasty stuff they have to re-index about 100% and sometimes have to sort build issues, on the better stuff (for them Carrera and Boradman) she reckons they have to re-index about 25% but rarely have to do anything else other than that advertised (bars and pedals and front wheel)

Setting up gears is a five minute job requiring two different tools. Hardly anything major.

Even if it is set up you will have to do some minor changes over the first few rides as everything beds in and cables stretch.
