Help with rear derailleur

Hello
I'm new to the forum so I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section.
Anyway, the rear derailleur on my bike broke so I need to buy a new one, but I've no clue what I should be looking for.
The bike is an Apollo Outrage mountain bike. The derailleur is Shimano, either an RD-MR40 or RD-TY30. That's what it says in the manual but I don't know which of the two it is.
I was able to find a second-hand MR40 online but no TY30.
So my question is - can I buy any Shimano rear derailleur, or does it have to be the exact same model as the previous one?
Many thanks in advance!

yes most shimano rear mechs will work.
presuming that the bike has a standard threaded mech mount and the mech is not direct onto the rear axle."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
