Hi all,

Silly question but i have a 32h powertap hub, iits an SL+ and i''ve been considering building it into a 80mm rear wheel and gettting a disc cover. Then getting an entry level PT to use as a training wheel to use over the winter.

is it possible to lace a 32h to a lower spoked rim? I cant see a zipp 808 with 32h.... I'm really looking to put a disc cover on anyway so the number of spokes isnt to much of an issue.

Or can you swap the body of the PowerTap cheaply/

Cheers

Easiest option would be a 16 spoke rim - missing every second spoke hole, but build quality will be critical and might not be the stiffest. As rim depth / aero is less critical on the rear, there are 32 hole 50mm rims available.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Fully agree with Monty Dog. Get a cheap 32h rim. 808s are overkill since you will put a cover on anyway, so not worth the price premium even if they were available in 32h.
