tyre fitment

I have merida's own tyres fited to my Merida matts 40 D which measure 2.1.Can i fit larger tyres to my standard rims? Wheels are Alex Rims and have ERTO 559X19 stamped on them.I am looking at Schwalbe Jimmy Sport or Black Jack 2.2 or Continental Mountain King 2.2.My previous bike had 2.35's but the rims are wider so i dont think they would fit my Merida.Can anyone help?

    I don't think a 2.2 would make much difference, 2.35 it depends on the brand. I have a pair of high rollers 2.1 that seem way smaller than panaracers in the same size....I think you will be ok.

    ERTO 559 X 19 reccomended widths 1.00 - 2.30

    you might get 2.35's on but bugger to get on and off in a hurry

    Thanx for the help mak3m,where can i view the ERTO recommended sizes?Do you think by going to 2.35 that i may potentially suffer from more snake bite punctures?
