Carbon frame

Hi
I have just got into mountain biking after years on road bikes and I am after some advise on buying a new MTB. i live in Spain in an area that it is very rocky on the tracks where i go and was thinking maybe its too much for carbon frame to handle. At the moment I am riding an aluminium Zaskar and when I am out on the trails rocks are sometimes thrown up and bounce off the frame. I was thinking maybe the carbon would get damaged ??
If I wanted to race XC sometime, are most riders on carbon these days ?
I have seen the canyon AL 7.0 for 1200 Euro what do you think of this ?

Thanks

Carbon can stand up to rock strikes better than aluminium.
The Canyon is a great bike, but is the Zaskar letting you down at all?0 -
Thanks Supersonic.
No not at all. its been a great bike. Its getting on a bit now and its not even got disk brakes

Supersonic, do you think the Canyon would be OK for XC racing ?
Thanks

Definitely, is a good weight for the money. Have a look at Rose Bikes too, as they had some cracking deals on.
The other option would be to spend money ipgrading the Zaskar - this might give you an even lighter ride.0 -
