Looking for a pair of good quality windproof overshoes for using now. I have a pair of Endura neoprene and they are great for when it gets really cold or wet, but I find them too warm and bulky for using in the autumn.

Can anybody recomend some which if preferably windproof and made from a light material. It would also be great if they were not too expensive.

Also is anybody using thoes toe covers that only covers the front of the shoe, are they any good?

Hope somebody can help

They come in white now?! Winter overshoes or not, they can't be worn in the rain, they'll get dirty!
  • I've just bought some Giordana Tenax (Activa Plus) and Pro Tarmac NPU+. Haven't had any rain in london for a while so can't comment there but the Giordana's provide good windproofing, better than the Pro's which are so thick they are pretty difficult to remove.

The zip on the Giordana's is a little dodgy but I did buy a smaller size (they were for my wife) and they are all black whilst the Pro's make you're feet look like a badly designed road sign.

    So long short of it.

Giordana good for this weather, Pro good for colder temps.

Lusso max repel are a good fit for your requirement, used them for years myself and only switch to neoprene when it gets really cold/wet. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=24725 can find them a bit cheaper if you shop around though

I prefer Prendas meraklon oversocks to overshoes in autumn conditions.

    They are cheap too!

    Just a thought...
  • +1 for the Pro H2O Tarmac. Good fit without having to wrestle with them.
  • ++ toe covers. I can't recommend them highly enough, wish I knew about them years ago.

Many thanks for all the suggestions.

The Prendas is on order, hopefully they will get delivered quickly.

By the way, a lot of the the Prendas stuff looks very nice. I can feel another purchase has to be made soon.

What is the wear like on the Prendas oversocks? I've been looking a them but was worried about them being shredded after a couple of rides
  • wear on the oversocks is pretty good. mainly as the heal and cleat holes are stitched. other brands (defeet, assos, etc) you have to cut the holes yourself.

i rode to work in a pair that are 2 yrs old, they are a little shabby, but still perfecly serviceable. and I wear them off road too!

Prendas meraklon overshoes are ace, but if you wear them for commuting or any riding where you have to put a foot down often then it won't be long before there's a hole near the toe IME. They can still be used with the hole obviously, but eventually they'll wear right through.

Still last longer than Endura overshoes though....
    More problems but still living....
  • +1 for the prendas oversocks. And for Prendas generally. My favourite bike clothing site by far.
