I much prefer the 2-wheeled variants to 3 or 4, as they are much more stable. ie - the ride like a 'bike' so you can corner, lean, and you are not at the mercy of the road/path camber.
Every 2-wheeled variant I've ever seen comes with a VERY sturdy stand so that loading/unloading is very easy and safe. Then, just rock it forwards off the stand, and off you go.
Beyond rideability, 2-wheeled ones are generally lighter and narrower, good for tight squeezes. They can, however, be quite long at times.
