Yes, that's right, some people actually don't realise it is illegal to go through red lights on a push bike as I found out last night when some bemused Manchester Chav told me at the lights.

I'm just bemused by the number of grown adults that ride on the footway rather than the road. 12 year old kids fair enough - but adults. Why do they think it's acceptable to make pedestrians move out of their way?

As much as I agree that people shouldn't be riding on the pavement, your typical pedestrian is so slow and should be prepared to move for people that walk faster than them anyways.

    Despise people with buggies.

So what you're saying is 'I'm in a hurry, get out of my way.'

Why ? the slower pedestrians have as much right to be on the pavement as a faster pedestrians. If the faster ones wants to get past, then it's up to them to go around them when it's convenient to do so, not to expect them to move. Much like when driving.

I must admit, I did ride on the pavement a lot when I owned a fake full suspension mountain bike [the ones made out of lumps of iron and an old spring]. It took me ages to build up the confidence to take to the road.

I do feel guilty about it now.

I think it was Ben Elton who said that tailgaiting in a car is odd and that you wouldn't walk right behind a slow person and try to force them to speed up.

Well it seems these days it does happen.

What a selfish self centred world we have become. Look at China and how a toddler being run over twice by vehicles was ignored by 18 people before somebody helped.

How do they know ? Was someone standing there counting the people who were ignoring the toddler, rather than helping ?

"I'm not going to help this injured toddler, I'm going to count the people who ignore it"

In which case does the 18 include the counter, or is it in fact 19 people ?

If you're a fast pedestrian trying to get past slow ones, you can always try saying "excuse me" - try to make it sound as cheerful and friendly as possible. I'm hoping that it'll make a comeback, people said it all the time when I were a lad

And if you're an adult cycling faster than you'd otherwise walk, you should be on the road. With the joggers

It was all captured on CCTV and is available to watch on youtube (if you so desire).

Is it a shock when we know the one child policy has lead to many infant deaths? It's not a society that smacks of caring.

On that note...cheer up folks..it's Friday!

Really? How do suggest people move young kids around the place then?

On donkeys. Or Palaminos. Nothing bigger as teh sproglets aren't tall enough to get on otherwise. By aeroplane/helicopter if the journey is longer than the average donkey's travelling ability.

Oooh, I love a bit of donkey transportation I do. You can always shoot them and eat them as well if you get peckish on the way. Can't do that with a Bugaboo, oh no Siree.

That's the point, they don't move them. The stand around in the middle of pavements talking to other people with buggies blocking the pathway while you're rushing around because you've not thrown your life away by having a child.

Also, a donkey was good enough for jesus.

Children should not be seen or heard, parents should keep them out the way of everyone else frankly I get relly hacked off on the train with kids making noise and at the trail centres when they go so flaming slow. Can't stand it when babies cry in restaurants or when they interrupt adults conversations and don't get me started on the school run.

Please god, no. No more children on airplanes. EVER. Unless they start up a child and parent-ONLY airline. One flight a week. Just families. No sprogs on regular flights. 8)

Trains have a similar problem, but at least in that instance some enterprising railway company could perhaps set aside a special "family carriage"?

Think you need to look for the 'quiet' carriage.

Is that related to the "no-one pays a blind bit of notice anyway and there'll be at least one muppet bawling into their mobile phone, either that or they'll have the Dangermouse theme tune on full volume as a ringtone" carriage? ;)

if they don't observe that, why would they observe the 'family' carriage? :P
