Garmin 705 not recognising TCX files

I've DL'ed my latest route from Bike Route Toaster as a TCX file to my Garmin (as recommended) but when I go to saved rides in the menu it says "no saved rides".

I've looked at the files stored on the Garmin and I can see the file on the machine under "courses". I have since copied and pasted it to several other folders on the machine but it still doesnt "see" it!

Any thoughts???

Can you actually see it under courses on the Garmin (I think in the training menu)? Whenever I've used TCX's I always select 'Do a Course' or whatever it is from the menu rather than routes/rides.
  • nferrar is correct: TCX files are located under training/courses

GPX files are under where to/saved rides

I got a similar answer on the Garmin forums.

Yes, they're there. Thank god for that - was ready to chuck the thing in the bin!

As mentioned on the 500 question, you can now route plan on Garmin connect making downloading much easier.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I thought gpx track files were the preferred format for the 705? Certainly recommended by ridewithgps.com

    You'll have to register though

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
