CX Tyres for Winter Commuting?

I commute on a CX bike with Marathon Plus tyres.
I still have the CX tyres supplied with the bike when I bought it.
Are there any winter conditions where CX tyres would be advantageous over normal road tyres?
Or do snow/ice conditions really demand studded tyres.
Thanks

CX tyres won't make much difference riding on the road in snow and ice, last year I managed the whole winter on marathon+, you just have to take it easy. Studded tyres would make a difference riding on ice though if you have enough clearance on your frame to use them.Dolan Preffisio

As I usually have slicks on my bike I found switching to CX tyres invaluable in the snow.--
