I may have posted this in the wrong section.....but here goes.
Today I decided to travel the GU canal from Slough-->Rickmansworth--->Slough approx 40 miles,I got on at the start @ Stoke Road and travelled accordingly.
When I reached bridge 12 with footbridge 13 I noticed a woman with a young child,I presumed she was showing him the Canal but to my suprise and oblivious to passers-by she emptied a shopping bag into the canal.. I think the bridge is about 15ft above..
I stopped and shouted what she thought she was doing, she muttered a reply and I replied you cannot throw sh1t in the canal...I then said wait there as I reached for my phone which I then levelled as if to take a photo..she was off but I did say got you...
I then moved to where the item had entered the canal and saw it was an Icleland carrier bag but the contents weren't visible.
F/F a couple of hours later as I re-passed the area oil had risen to the top of the bag but was unable to escape, but to my suprise and shock I started to notice other bags, loads of bags, perhaps a hundred, all in the same stretch..how long has this been happening I wonder.
I got home and phoned the River Authority but as it was 17;45 ish they were unable to contact the local customer service for Slough, they're ringing back 2morro.
