Having got my girlfriend into cycling on a dcent bike at last I thought it might be nice to buy her some trousers for riding to work as she is wearing her work trousers at present and she says she'd rather not.

As a lycra clad roadie I have no idea where to start! Any suggestions - was hoping to only spend around £50. Something that looks smart is designed (and comfortable) for riding and won't flap around near moving bike parts.

She won't wear lycra......yet!

Thought this was going to be another "girls in lycra shorts/knitwear" type thread...

Anyhoo, you could try - http://www.minx-girl.com

To be honest, if she's not into lycra there is very little available out there, or maybe I've not looked hard enough. Swrve did a 3/4 pair but haven't had any in for a while. I missed the boat on that one. There is a US company called Outlier that has a pair.

She could try stretch skinny jeans with padded shorts?. I bought a cheap pair in Primark and managed a comfy non-padded ride from Balham to Oxford Street and return. Mind you, I had to force myself to ride slowly as I sweat buckets and I'm on a bike with drops with clipless pedals.

    MTB shorts?

Thanks for your suggestions so far

For commuting purposes lycra under baggy shorts work well. She should give it a go.
