I need some help!!

I have just started a new commute on my 2009 Marin Nail Trail. Its done 6,000 miles so I think it needs retiring to the trails only....

So i need/want a new bike for the following commute:

3.5 miles to the station, 30 mins on the train and 3.5 miles other end.

I really don't know what bike to go for next. Obviously light would be good as i have to carry up and down stairs and quick would be nice as I like to go quick but big and tough would be nice as I like to jump curbs etc!!

So I don't want a foldup, nor a tricross.....

I'm going crazy anything from Cinelli single speeds to Marin 29" ers have been considered!!

Budget anything from 0 > 1,500

Any ideas??

  • Get two bargains from ebay, 1 for each leg of the journey - I do a 3mile commute to the station when I don't ride all the way - I got a Giant hybrid for £25 - It's practical, not desirable for thieves, is not pretty and doesn't mind getting scratched at the station parking and if it does go missing its no bother for that price.

Or a brompton (I know you said that you didn't want a folder but they are great!)

  • Maybe I wasn't clear - I got it from ebay!
If you're not fussed about condition/age there are lots of bargains around!

  • Dahnon Cadenza. It a folder, but 26" that rides like a real bike. And you can run 26" or 700c on it, rim or disc, SS or geared. Does it all, and goes in a shoulder bag on the train. Very handy and nice to ride.
