£40 to Spend In Halfords (Bike Hut)

It's a long and all-too-painful story but I have been offered "goods up to the value of £40" from Halfords bike shop. TBH, I can't think of anything (other than a shedload of innertubes) that I'd want that they are vaguely likely to carry.

I'm in search of inspiration, please...

    What bike(s) do you have?

What accesories do you currently have (bearing in mind Halfords do a buy 2 get 3rd free!)

Tyres, tubes, cables, GT85, mucoff, pump, powerlinks, cable ends, etc etc

meanredspider do you MTB? Then there is loads of stuff you could get.... i was looking at tyres last week in Halfords, and they had pretty good ones - Mountain Kings, Mountain Queens etc....

Good routes round Strathpeffer, might be up there myself in a few weeks.

Torque wrench? More than £40 perhaps but a big chunk off the sale price of a useful tool.

Thanks for the ideas. So far I'm looking at lots of consumables :D

    Bikes I have

Focus Cayo - RS80 wheels and a few other bits of carbon bling from the PO
Focus Variado - which I really should sell...
    Cube Reaction Race MTB
    Boardman CX

I have pretty much all the tools I could possibly use (my other hobby is preparing and racing an old Alfa Romeo - at one time or another, I've pretty much stripped it to it's components and rebuilt it - including replacing over 60% of the panels & painting it).

I could get a shock pump but I'd use it about once a year and my mate has one. I have a good track pump (and a back-up cheapy)(oh, and an industrial-scale air compressor).

What I might do is get a set of lights and donate them to the next village raffle thereby doing some good and maybe helping ensure somebody is well-lit. It'll make a change from the can of Campbell's Game Soup that's been through the raffle 67 times to date :D

I can't believe I paid the £30 or whatever to have the service plan thing. I was sold by how many parts they change. Mentally, I've now prepared myself to have to go over everything that they've fitted and check it over.

Actually the batteries thing might be a very good idea. I seem to recall a Which! (or similar) survey that found that £ per hour of service the Halfords brand of batteries were actually the best on the market.

......mind you, £40 is a heck of a lot of batteries.....

Does it have to be spent at Bike Hut, or can you use it for car parts?

    20 air fresheners?

Dunno - I suppose I could buy some oil for the race car (though last time they had an offer on it, there was only one store in the UK that stocked it).

  • Just buy something that's eminently eBay-able.

My thoughts exactly. Bit of credit in your Paypal account for next time you want to buy something.
