silly crank question

Got to ask this stupid question  sorry in advance...
Ok here goes.
I was building my new bike up at the weekend.(well new frame) i stripped the parts off of the pace to put on my new frame. As i was removing the crank
a raceface dues xc i noticed one of teeth on the middle chainring had snapped off.
i have no idea how and when this happened the crank is 2 years old and came off another bike last year that i sold.
so my silly question is.
Will the dues crank be ok to use with one tooth missing off the middle chain ring,.
i tend to use the middle ring more than any other..
i konw the logical thing would be to replace the ring with a new one but like i said the drive train is quite old so to do that it would probably require 3 new rings a new chain and new cassette.
And i cant afford to do that right now (thanks to being made redundant in summer) the bills have started to arrive ,, daughter has just started school and christmass is only a few months off.. so money is kinda of tight at the minute (not used to being poor  )
cheers. DC

Only one tooth should be fine - presume you didn't notice it while you were riding?I don't do smileys.

It may accelerate the chain and cassette wear a small amount, but not that much I imagine.
Middleburn slickshift chain rings have some really small teeth scattered around the chainring to help shifting.0 -

Raceface rings often have a short tooth to aid shifting. If it looks like the one by the top right mount here then it's normal.Statistically, Six Out Of Seven Dwarves Aren't Happy0

Same with Shimano it's most noticeable on the granny ring, looks like a couple of snapped teeth but they're to aid chain pickup.0
