HI all..

right my bike started to make real funny rubbing noises over the last bike ride i went out on, i managed to narow it down to the rear freehub.

after spending a long time in the garage splitting this rear wheel down i found that it's much like some shimano freehubs in that it's a throw away item and replace which is not really what i want if it's only lasted one year of cycling..

anyhow to teh point..
i want to replace the hub with something a little more servicable with sealed bearings (and rather have cassette bearings not the loose ones) without having to buy all new spokes any help greatly apreciated !..

i like the hope hubs but not sure if they are suitable with curent spoke length.

if i need to provide anything please shout, but this is standard 2010 cararra fury from halfords so mavic rims with formula hubs.

if it's cheaper to buy a complete wheel then i can do that

cheers
Hubba.

just service it. cant say that i know of any hubs that are throw away.

but yes a new wheel would be a cheaper option.

looking online (and after trying to strip it down to service it) it seems the freewheel hub is a chuckaway item, i agree the wheel hub it's self is still ok and serviceable (i've already re greased up the bearings)

it's a standard spec Carerra fury 2010 so formula hubs on maciv rims is about as much as i can get out of the halfords website, by looking at it it shows Shimano FH-M475 VIAM

no i'm real confused, either way there was not way of splitting down the freewheel easy and servicing it like you can a hope hub.

i was hoping that i coule replace this shimano hub with a hope one and keep the same spokes nipples and rim etc but not sure if that it would be any cheaper than buying a 2nd hand rim with a hope hub already in it.

    ideas ?
