Cateye HL-EL600 Problems

Hi I have recently purchased the Cateye HL-EL600 Front light along with the TL-LD610 Rear light.

Both lights are good in the dark, however the front light states 2 hours of battery life on full beam. I have only received 45 miinutes before it turns off, at this point the flash still works but the red light to denote low battery is on.

I charge the unit for the specified 5 hours, however the green light on the battery pack comes on after just 1 hour to denote full charge.

I am looking to return the light and replace with something else but want to keep the rear light as it was bought as a set.

I paid £55 for the set, and have seen the same rear light along with the HL EL-320 front for £30.00 is this light good for a 10 mile commute? I need a fairly good beam as only half the journey is lit up.

If its a dark commute you want something like a P7 torch off Dealextreme. Massively brighter than the cateye. Or a fenix torch even.

I bought the set with the HL EL-320 for £30 off Wiggle the other week and i'm impressed with both lights for the money paid.

The HL EL-320 is ok at night, nothing amazing. It lights up enough space in front of you to be able to ride safely at a reasonable speed but thats about it.

I was considering the DX option but it would mean spending £30 solely on the front light (yes it would be considerably better i know) and I still needed a rear light. So to get a half decent package for £30 for me it was a no brainer.
