Got any riding videos you've put together? I think a thread with everyones talent in one place would be good - so to get the ball rolling, This weekend I was mucking about at Chicsands with a Sony bridge and the Kodak and put this together:
Chicsands Bull Run
I think it should have ended at the crash and started with a few opening shots.

Someone once told me you couldn't be a fan of Green era AND Buckingham era, but I disagree.0 -

I agree with that, I much prefer the Peter Green era, sure Buckingham and Nicks played a pivotal role in the Mac's late 70's-90's success, but it wasn't quite rock and certainly not blues. I'd term it as "pop"0 -

True dat. Gotta love a bit of messed up marital pop.0 -
Nice film - I particularly like the number of cased landings! I fear for your rear wheels!
Couple of films I did - riding is average - I like the one off the bike, not so keen on the chest cam view - I think I could cut a reasonable film together with a half decent camera and a good rider! But me and a gopro is a fail!

mmmm lovely trail that. That lot gets a 9/10 from me - especially the woodwork around 1.08 in the first film - nice looking wooden berms.
I quite like the chest mount - I much prefer it to being mounted on top of the helmet as you get a greater perception of the body language of the rider and overall speed. Seems to me the best compromise of stability, view and perception. Unfortunatly I can't mount my cam to the chest. A mate is working on making a helmet mount for it though.
And yeah - we need to get more lift off those kickers so as not to look like a pair of amatuers! :oops:0 -

Some great riding in those, and some nice shots too - keep it up
It doesn't always feel like there's any narrative though, like it's just a mash-up. Can't tell if it's the same track top to bottom or just strung together shots. But plenty of good stuff.0 -

the second one is top to bottom and third is split into parts of the track and the days0 -
Where abouts were you riding? Looks to be some nice trails. I've just looked at some Kinver DH which looks a bit similar...0

Nothing special, but I was pleased because it was the first time I'd managed the black sections on the Monkey at Cannock Chase. Most of the rocks in the 'new black rock section' are too big/steep to roll off, they have to be launched/manualed.
Unfortunately the cam was on my head (that's where it lives on my commute) so you've got the typical flat/smooth/slow 'disconnected' effect.
Filmed on a Contour HD, so at least the quality's ok0 -
Mmm makes me want to try that. Good looking trail, looked nice on android too.0

Nice video that, really wants to make me go back to Cannock now!
I think the sense of speed is pretty decent to say the camera is mounted up top, you get a good sense of speed on the Upper Cliff section. I still think a chest mount is best for footage though, shame the Countour can't be mounted on the chest. Pretty decent quality though.0 -
bails87 wrote:I think the speed isn't too badly affected actually, because of the narrow trees/bushes at head height, it's more the smoothing out of the trail that takes away some of the supergnarcore-ocity of my riding
Yep, does make it seem a lot smoother than it is. The black rock garden certainly looks a lot more supergnarcore in real life. I'm sure you where stoked to the max after you rode down it.0 -
Bails87 - I'll see your video of Cannock and raise you.... My video of Cannock from yesterday!
It's an experimental camera mount and as I was on my own, was too much of a faff to get a variety of angles so if you don't like the mount (once the opening sequence is over), you won't like the rest of the video. But it does cover pretty much most of Cannock and the upper cliff rocks.

I'm going to work on the angle a bit more so my arm isn't in the way so much, but that will be easier with a riding partner as I can't see the screen when it's behind me.0
