How much difference (slower/faster etc) does changing your tyres from 700 x 23 to 700 x 25 make? Ie does it make so much difference that its worth reprogramming my computer? By my own admission I'm a tad anal when it comes to being accurate with speed & distance...

  • Yes, its probably worth changing your computer. I usually set mine over a distance - 1 mile if you know of a road with 1 mile markers. I've always found the charts you get aren't that good.

If you re anal then it's worth it - but tbh, the difference is pretty minimal even between 26in and 700c tyres

  • To be specific the difference in circumference between the two tyres will be in the region of 0.5%

23s are slightly more aero and lighter but 25s are a tiny bit comfier and actually have lower rolling resistance. I'd not bother changing the computer.

Just remember, that as the tyre wears, make adjustments to your computer to take this into account.

I see what you mean about being 'anal'
