I broke it :-(

I was about two thirds of the way home on Thursday when something on the back end collapsed, i held it together and managed to stop without falling off.

Thought maybe the rear wheel had caved in or something, but what happened was that the rear forks came away from the frame where they join the top tube (they overlap it and join it on each side). Nothing snapped it just looks like the "glue" holding it together gave in.

It's an old 80's Raleigh Weekender, but is in great condition and still solid as a rock (so i thought!). I love it and have been commuting 26 miles a day from Surbiton to Waterloo for the last 8ish months. My long term plan was to get a shiny new summer bike and use this for winter duties as it has a rack and mud guards.

Anyone know it it might be fixable? re-welded (or braised, as apparently was).

Looks like it's PT for the the next little while!

If it's steel it should repair no problem. If there isn't a frame builder near you, a car repairer should have the equipment to sort it out and is likely to be cheaper than a frame builder.
