Kona frame - please help!

thanks for looking!
i have a scandium kona king supreme that has a crack on it and i want to get it welded, can anyone recommend a welder in the midlands(ish) area or does anyone know the %'s of the metals used to make scandium? its an early model from about 04-07

  • thanks slx, thats intresting to know, but they are in kansas, which is a bit far from the midlands!
    does that imply that providing you use the right weld then any aluminium welder should be able to fix it?

  • I believe you need to send it to a specialist or what we used to term as "coded" welder
    Those guys can perform miracles, it's what they do day in and day out

    With a little help from the worst kept secret on the Internet, namely Google, I found these guys. Give them a call, but be warned before sending it in, you will have to strip the frame of all paint on the area/s being attended to

    I didn't expect you to buy a scandium tandem from Kansas it was the info on scandium I was linking to. I'm no welder but it seems to imply it just welds like any alloy but unless you use scandium welding wire the weld will be normal alloy strength and therefore weaker than the tubing.
