What you get more from the new 2012 bike is:

Autosag on the rear Fox Triad
    BB30
    142mm rear dropouts
    ISCG 05 tabs
    Tapered Headset
Front Fox fork instead of RS

And if you like it 2*10 instead of 3*10

I think the 2012 bike is good for the money, but you need to decide if the extra money gives you more value.

You can also look at the new camber is you want a bit more for less.
  • Tjeerd,

Thanks mate some useful info so in your opinion the £600 extra is well spent on the 2012 model

I think the autosag rear Fox is a real bonus, I would like to have it on my next bike.
The tapered headseat together with the 142mm rear drop out makes the bike a lot stiffer. That is worth some extra £

And I like Fox forks more than Rock Shox ones but that is more personal I think.

Best thing is if you could test ride both bikes. And than make up your mind.

    Good luck!

IMO that little lot isnt worth £600

Theres not much to call between the forks and the Revs are dual air.

Autosag is nice, but its not £600 hard to set sag is it ?

The tapered headtube makes a noticable improvement to the front end stiffness of the bike particularly if you also have a QR15 or 20mm maxle fork aswell.

The revelation on the 2011 bike is a good fork though even if it is a regular QR jobbie, i dont kow that the new fox fork and tapered head tube on the 2012 bike would be justification for the extra £600 over the outgoing model myself, could buy some nice blinged out bits with £600 in your pocket....
  • Cheers guys,

    Jayson,

Here is a question then, you save the £600 what bling would you buy?

    Dropper seatpost - Definately
New wheels - Yup, nice lighter ones would be good although they aint super heavy.
SLX Chainset - Why? The Sram one is perfectly fine and you aint saving any weight/hardly any.
Formula brakes - Again why, the Elixirs are awesome brakes, bloody Formula fanboys.

Autosag is a nice gimmick, I'd have it but I wouldn't pay £600 alone for it.

What is something you need to think about is the 2012 frame might be more futureproofed with the tapered headtube, 142mm dropout etc.

The fox vs revs, I'd say are much of a muchness you probably wouldn't feel the difference.

Oh also the 2012 frame looks better imo, more curvy on the top tube ;)

It is worth noting that Spesh uses a 142+ rear axle system which is peculiar to themselves and makes aftermarket wheel choice a little restricted.
  • Thanks again guys, great help.

Just to make it easier cyclestore has the 11 comp in stock for £1400 in all sizes apart from small.
  • Now that is a hell of a saving.

i have an SLX chainset so im a tad biased. Im also Shimano biased full stop.

Formula fanboy for a reason i.e. they are great brakes (unlike Orange 5 fanboys)

plus we were talking bling, so sensible doesnt necessarily come into it

At that price the '11 is a no brainer.
