Does anyone know where I can get some shims from to space the caliper away from the frame?

Well, It depends...

If it's an (IS) caliper that bolts on directly to a frame/fork mount, then you need specific, very fine (0.2mm?) caliper shims/washers e.g. http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/m:part-disc- ... rc=froogle

If it's a post mount caliper with an IS adapter (recent models), most of std washers will do, as the design allows precise side to side adjustment.

Halfords sell a nice wee bag of assorted thickness shims, not expensive.
