Non-UST tyres tubless on XT WHM778-UST wheels?

Does anyone know how easy it is to run non-UST tyres tubless on XT WHM778-UST wheels?
In particular, I need to find a decent rear tyre for winter but do not want the extra weight of winter UST tyres if I can help it, just that I'm not clear how easy it is to fit non-UST tyres onto my XT UST wheels and still run them tubless.
I've considered Conti Rubber Queens, Bonty XR4's, Mud-X, Maxxis High Roller LUST and a few others. I would really like to be able to use the non-ust versions if poss, but not sure how easy they will sit/inflate on my wheels with or without Stan's liquid. Any insights greatly appreciated...

alot of people run non ust tyres but actually run the tubless bead ones instead.so mabye look at that as a best of both worlds thing. i personally run crests with RR tubless, the tyres are lite anyway so though migth as well. personal prefurance though you know.
you just need to look out for certain tyres that are known to be rubbish at inflating tubless panaracers specifically but not sure about others im afriad. stans tends to be the best amongst forum members so cant go wrong with that and thats what i use too0 -
My understanding was that if the rim is UST then the tyre must also be UST to run tubeless. This is because the beads have to be compatible to form a seal.
Stan's rims are not UST so you can run standard tyres tubeless (with sealant).
I only have experience of running Stan's tubeless so my understanding of UST may not 100% correct.XC: Giant Anthem X

Hi, I run Conti Mountain King Protection (non UST) on Fulcrum Red Metal 3 (UST) with a couple of scoops of Stans. Never had a puncture or a problem

Never used Shimano, but UST doesn't automatically need a UST tyre, my 819s are fine with standard tyres.
Mud-X comes in a Tubeless Ready version, should be ideal for you. Standard Rubber Queens have very porous sidewalls, mine sealed eventually but it took weeks, and way more sealant than I'd normally use- you could see them foaming away, it was kind of cool. (they're not really what I'd call a good winter tyre for that matter).Uncompromising extremist0 -
Anyone tried Nobby Nic SnakeSkin TL Ready 2.25 as tubless on UST wheels?0
