Hi.
I notice loads of folks with their bikes listed in their signature as links to photos.
How is it done please, as I'd like to do the same.
Thanks

Yup!
I'm able to add normal links to my posts etc but what I can't see how to do is to turn the list of my bikes into links to a photo of each.0 -
HTML ie {url=LINK}name of link{/url}
Replace {} with []0 -

thanks for the reply Supersonic but I need more details.
I just can't get it to work as the HTML is way too long for the signature's character limit - and that's just for one bike.
I have the images on photobucket and here's the HTML code (I think) to one of them:
<a href="http://s43.photobucket.com/albums/e393/danglibitz/Bike Stuff/?action=view&current=DragBike-2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e393/danglibitz/Bike Stuff/DragBike-2.jpg" border="0" alt="2008 Cape Wrath 27 Disc (49cc Special Edition ;-}"></a>
does that look right? as I can't get it to work!
please will you type an example, like I'm a six year old!

Again, replace {} with []0 -

OK, I copied your example (Substituting "Cape Wrath" with my original description) and it still won't work!
Your link you showed off with in your previous message, went to the wrong page. It went to the Album instead of the photo, though I copied the HTML from the photo.
This is really doing my box in.
what am I doing wrong?0 -
just seen that "HTML is OFF" in my signature and I can't turn it on. Could this be it? and how do I turn it on?0

What are you wanting to display in the link? Single pics? Right click on the image to get the link to it, and use that.0

Mad man"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yes, trying to show one photo of each bike. Just tried again, using this:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e393/ ... Bike-2.jpg but I still can't get it to work. Here's exactly what I'm putting in my signature:
[http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e393/danglibitz/Bike Stuff/DragBike-2.jpg]2008 Cape Wrath 27 Disc (49cc Engine mod!)[/url]
again, what am I doing wrong? Is it the "HTML off" setting do you think?0 -
nope just do as above as stated in the FAQs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
You did not put url= at the start.0
-
-
yes because you are missing bits like an ="Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

nicklouse wrote:yes because you are missing bits like an =
now I've put the url= and it still ain't working0 -
SUCCESS!!!!!!!
Many thanks Nicklouse & Supersonic
Sorry for being a bit dim!
Now, how do I get round the "Signature is too long" message so i can link to all 4 bikes?0 -
get rid of some crap or use tiny url."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
I know what crap is but what's tiny url? and how is it used?0

the wonders of Google!
I'm getting there guys.
Fanx a bunch for your help on this - top geezers0 -
No probs! By the way, I don't live far from where Kes was filmed, ride past the ruined castle all the time ;-)0
-
one final question on the matter . . . . . . if I wanted to link to a few photos of the same bike, how would I do that?
I've got them sorted how I wanted for now but I'd like a couple of pics of the cape wrath maybe
Fanx again0 -
You'd have to arrange them into an album in Photobucket, and link to that.0

Done it!
Check my Cape Wrath link!
Bike's sooo much fun, by the way. Good for 48mph on the flat (3 speed Sturmey Archer on the engine) and will pull me up quite steep roads with no pedal assist! Cool off road too, takes me back to the "Crosser" days! Makes me smile anyway.
Fanx again
ps I omitted to point out that it is only ever ridden on private land and all previous mentions of "Road" are figures of speech, your honour0
