    Ouch!!!!

The bloke further down also hit the deck!!!

    Diesel???
  • yeah the bloke further down was me! I saw that my friend went down and must have broke a bit too eagerly and my back wheel locked and slid out, not sure how long I will be out...hope its not long!
  • Nice 180 (you almost pulled it off)!

Funny how cars rarely stop when they see an accident, at least the first car put their hazards on to warn other cars there were cyclists in the road.

    Wet leaves... :(

What tyres did you have on? So I don't accidentally end up buying a pair.

Oh yeah, and sorry to hear about your hand yadda yadda yadda :-(. Which bone(s) did you break?

  • if there's any consolation, looks like the guy infront of you fell aswell trying to stop!

Make sure those hands gets properly treated to avoid arthritis later in life.

    Get well soon!
  • Nasty! Heal fast mate.

I've crashed a few times and only once did a car stop to see if I was OK - and that was a car being driven by a GP.

Actually the first crash ( middle rider ) was I think caused by touching the center white line.

Not quite certain ( seems to be between two frames ) but that's what it looks like to me.

Agree, your crash is locked rear brake = wheel sliding out.

But maybe you could have held it.

    Nasty.

    Nasty time of year, this.

    Were you on new tyres?

A lot of us fit new tyres for the winter and then its slippery and there's release agent still on the rubber...

So its best to scrub them in on a dry day

    Hope you heal quickly

Bad luck mate. It's a tricky time of the year. How fast were you all going when it all went "cleats up"?
    Purveyor of "up" :)

Bad luck there mate. How bad is your hand? Hopefully it is a nice clean break rather than anything complicated.

How's the first chap who fell, btw? That looked a nasty crack too.
  • thanks for all the sympathetic replies :)

hand is in a cast, broke my scaphiod bone, couple of days on and my whole body is feeling pretty bruised! lets just hope it heals fast, in the mean time...anyone got a turbo I can borrow? :D

p.s we werent going to fast 20-25mph, other guy who went down had a few scratches but did bust his SRAM shifter...at least its free to fix my hand!
  • Damn, the other guy didn't look like he went down that hard. Did they say how long it will take before you can put weight on it again? Oh, and how are your hands? I noticed you weren't wearing mitts in the video.

I think most of us have had are far share of injuries (I've managed 3 A&E visits in a week before )

The middle rider (and maybe all of you) might like to study this link

    http://www.flammerouge.je/content/3_fac ... escend.htm

which is the best information I have come across on cornering technique.

Especially the linked PDF, which pretty much summarises everything

    http://www.flammerouge.je/images/factsh ... ematic.pdf

The key is to turn in "late", which leaves you fully in control.

All the best with your hand.
