Anyone got one?
If so what's it like-ride wise/weight/sizing

Comments

  • I've got one. What sizing do you want - i can measure for you if you like. Mine's ultegra, with a compact. Not sure of weight, i'll weigh it if you like. Rides OK for a winter bike. Not as nice as my Hercules, but then i wouldn't expect it to be!

  • It's a 54cm frame, and weighs 9.4 kg, with pedals, pump and mudguards. Easton SL50 wheels with Gatorskins. That should give you feel for how it compares weightwise. It rides well enough for me to do centuries over the winter.

ive been thinking of thisframe for winter. what is the mudguard clearance like, seeing as it uses standard drop calipers. do you have any pictures. its the only thing stopping me pulling the trigger on one.
  • Plenty of clearance. I've got crud road mudguards on it, but it originally had standard mudguards on it. They fit with no probs.

  • How does this frame compare to the ribble winter setup? Does Dolan design the rubble frames?

Rick - how tall are you and does the 54 fit well?

  • 5' 8", 31 inch inseam. The bike fits well, but that's because as well as frame size, the other stuff like stem bars and cranks are right. Can't comment on the Ribbles, but there's a lot of them around, so good value.

I don't know about the design but they are effectively the same frame... I'd take the dolan over the ribble though... Might want to think about visibility on a black frame though,

I just bought a Genesis Aether 10 from real cycles as my winter trainer (£420 on finance, RRP about £599). First day out today - really impressed. Trible butted alu frame, long drop brakes so you could take wider tyres (25mm or 28mm) with full mudguards - which is what I was after. Low end shiamno bits which work fine - frame is worthy of of an upgrade in the future. Great looking bike. I also considered the Pinnacle Dolomite which was reduced. Hope that helps with some alternatives.

  • I have SKS bluemels fitted to mine, think they're 38mm wide and they just fit. I also use long drop brakes with the blocks adjusted as high as they'll go. No problems so far.

i was looking at the dolomite one as well, i dont know many bikes with long drop brakes which i think you need if you dont want to be fiddling about with mudguard clearance all the time. ill have a look at what the aether 10 is passout. the other option is the boardman race if i can find a second hand one.
  • I have a question about this bikes geometry. Size 54 has 110mm headtube? My current 54cm bike has 150mm headtube. Does it mean I have to add 40mm extra spacers, to get the same handlebar height?
