Exposure Flare - Fitting Options?

My twin Smart 1/2W rear lights both gave up the ghost in a torrential storm on the way home the other night. They just aren't waterproof enough.

I've read through some other "Which rear light?" threads, and the Exposure Flare looks like a good bet. The problem is, I use a Carradice saddlebag so I would need a light that clips onto that. A seatpost fitting is no good to me.

Are clip-on type fittings available for the Flare, or is it a seatpost-only light?

Seat post only I'm afraid. At least the one that comes with it is anyway.

How big is the saddle bag? I have a Fizik iPak and so I have to fit my flare right at the bottom of the seat post to make if most visible. Depends what your seat post extension is I suppose.

  • Thanks for replying. Definitely can't be seatpost mounted. I've designed a little device that attaches to the Carradice Bag Support thingy and provides a stable mounting point for rear lights. I just need to get to B&Q for some 25mm piping, a hacksaw and a tube of Araldite 8)

PS just discovered the Magicshine MJ818 rear lights and trying to decide between these or the Exposures.

Apparently you can get a seat rail mounting if that's any good? Don't know what it looks like or how it fits.

  • Once again, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately saddle rail mounting isn't an option either. Once I build my B&Q bodge I'll post a pic and you can see what I mean!
