Get better pedals, V8's are pretty terrible!
Stiff soled skate shoes are good, or MTB shoes like AM40's.
Then theres the ridiculously priced 5:10's.0 -

I just use a low cut Karimor walking shoe, 15pounds from some sports direct. They are styled like a trainer so quite cool (and not like, inbetweeners cool), the walking sole is very good for gripping pins.0

While waiting for reply s , I went out using my karrimoor walking boots and they worked a treat nice and warm and gripped really well and mainly dry till i put my foot down in a ankle deep bog.lol0

Think you guys mean these ones, I have used them, but imo find the tread is too bumpy for a comfortable feel on V8s,Trek Fuel EX80 -
Yeah those are the ones. They're the best shoe I've used in 15 years riding. Vans can grip better but they don't support your foot properly. Though their limitation is that they are cr@p walking boots :shock:0

try dc skate shoes iv always been a fan of them seem to be the best for gripping and toughest when i was on flats- used wellgo mg1s which are very similar to v8s.

they are nothing alike.
V8 small and poor. MG1s wide and light."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I have V8s and wear a pair of cheap Karrimor trainers. I never have any problems with pedal slip. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
I can't ride in my Karrimors! Sole too thick, chunky grip doesn't always sit right. Though lots of models out there, will get the name of mine.0

About to say wouldn't worry too much my V8's last 2 weeks before all the bearings inside have turned to soup.....0

5:10 Karver, expensive, clumpy, ugly, but support and grip is second to none best shoe I've used (and still do) by a flying mile.0

I use Nike 6.0's, although im using v12's now I used to use v8's and loved them, I think 'terrible' is a bit of an over the top statement, especially compared to some pedals.0

The key is to get shoes which are relatively flat and not too much deep tread. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.

Ive got the V8's and i use karrimoor walking shoes and they work fine, i did find the amount of grease you got with V8 was toilet so went and bought a grease gun and loaded em up a treat. Bit of a noob myself but it seems to work.0

I'm using V8's with Five Ten's... Works perfectly fine for me!
It's a solid feeling and mega gripping shoe on a solid and grippy platform pedal...

Also on five tens (spitfires) with v8's. Grip is a bit too much if anything, find it difficult to adjust foot slightly on pedal if out of position, but i'd rather that than slipping off. As for the v8's, apart from them being heavy and fricking painful when they come into contact with my shins, they're fine, just squeeze as much grease in as possible0

v8s are fine. They're a bit heavy, a bit narrow and a bit thick but generally decent. I have two pairs and recently swapped for something "better" but other than weight and width, nothing really has changed.0

I upgraded from v8's to MG1's and it was like night and day. Unfortunately I also bought some 5:10 impacts so couldnt do a proper comparison. However I'm considering another change in pedals maybe some superstar's
Before changing the pedals defo make sure you get some decent shoes I'll recommend 5:10 impacts. But they do soak up water like a sponge0 -
I have 5-10 and V-12s, perfectly fine. Thank the Lord I didn't buy the V8's or it could have been terrible. It's a tough audience here sometimes0
