Insurance advice

Hi All. I was knocked off at a roundabout this week when I lady drove into the back of me at the junction. I am insured and have British cycling membership. The damage to the bike is around £300. Am I better to pay for the damage and claim through the legal route or use my insurance for the bike and the legal route for personnel injuries and the excess. The driver is fully insured and has admitted not seeing me to the police. So a fairly shut and closed case in terms of blame - but what effect on my insurance premium might there be ? Cycleguard BTW

You should just call BC and ask their advice as they'll have experience0

Don't assume that because the driver admitted that they didn't see you automatically means their insurance will pay up. Use you BC membership and get their legal support to speed up the process. If you do pay for anything, keep all receipts.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I have contacted BC. Very good so far. Just not sure whether to leave it just with the lawyer or to use the insurnace as well. Just wondered really how a claim has effected peoples premiums0

Surely if the other party is found at fault, there won't be a paying claim on your insurance?Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Trouble is its not a no blame issue with insurance its a no claim. Claiming makes you a greater risk to them so just wondered if it would make much difference0

It'll make no difference IME - it's only if they have to pay out that your premium goes upCarlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Your no claims/ renewal will not be affected - your insurer will recover costs from 3rd party.0
