I've just bought some Superstar discs and adapters to upgrade my standard 160 discs to 180's. It looks like the disc bolts have some threadlock (or similar) on them, is it essential to use this?

I've not got any handy, but am happy to get some if necessary. Or shall i just torque them up and monitor?

I'm pretty sure it's not necessary, some of mine have it, some don't, none have ever come out

  • i would always recomend threadloc on disc bolts due to the fact that they are in a high vibration area and if there is any movement on the disc, hard breaking can ruin the bolt holes in the disc.

I wouldn't be worried about the bolt holes in the disc as much as the holes in the hub. Loose bolts can rip out of the hub - hub wrecked.
