Avid BB5 Not stopping

Hi,

Recently I replaced by pads as my old ones had become badly contaminated by overuse of GT85, so I bought originals and replaced, now ever since the contamination (may not be linked) the rear brakes don't stop when the lever is pulled. there is some resistance and some slowing but nothing like the front. So I swapped the pads an rotors between the front and rear and the front is still fine, but the rear is still the same.

What do I need to look at as it is a new cable as well, is it likely the mechanism is U/s?

Everyone I speak to seems stumped.
Cheers

Stewart

    did you clean the rotor?

allow the pads to bed in and check operation.

  • That's the strange thing, the pads and rotor from the rear work fine on the front, and the ones that worked on the front, don't work on the rear.
That only leaves a sticky cable or a faulty brake mechanism.

Will try the cable first, it's a bit cheaper!
