As the title suggests, this may be a stupid question!

What's the difference between a 10 speed and 9 speed chain? Can I use my old 10spd chain on a 9spd set up?

I've just replaced my 10spd chain and the old one is in better condition than the 9spd one on my commuter bike. Just trying to figure out if it will work...

either way, I assume that means a 10spd chain wouldnt be happy on a 9spd setup?

i think the link spacing is the only difference rest of the dimensions are standard

Some of the weight weenies were running 10sp chains on 9sp set ups as thet are slightly lighter, 10sp are narrower but otherwise much the same.
