Very OT I know - a kiwi friend is over and particularly wants a curry. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Origin Asia - Kew road running into Richmond Rotunda - really good.

Not really Kew though - more Richmond . . .

Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?
  • Awesome. thanks Greg. Sure he can explore as far afield as Richmond if he's got all the way here from NZ.

Good, but having eaten in both a combined total of about a hundred times (across four years) in my opinion Aangan on Petersham Road in Richmond (just to the south of the bridge) is better. Their tandoori starters are to die for. Swagat (the other nice-looking curry house in Richmond) we've always found a bit of a disappointment however.

Head in the other direction, out to Southall - Gifto's Lahore Bistro is peerless (and very cheap). We were there for Sunday lunch when 4 adults and 4 kids ate like kings for £35. One day I will pluck up the courage to order curried lamb's trotters.....

Swagat sells expensive stews rather than currys. Agree that it is a disappointment, although the missus swears by the potato and chickpea starter.

Origin Asia is a bit posh but have not tried Aangan. Is now on the list.

While on the subject, Bengal Village on Sheen Road is a stunning takeaway.

And opposite the Red Cow - order food, pop over for a pint, by the time you have drunk your pint your curry is ready.

    Happy days . . . .

If you're south west take a trip to the hilariously named 'Gaylord' in weybridge. Shiraz and the team make an amazing curry.

  • Kiwi friend visited Origin Asia last night and declared himself happy so thanks for the v.speedy response Greg T. I shall keep in mind the other tips for other curry occasions.

Curry for lunch. On PT today due to drinks tonight so cyclists on CS8 can't blame the foul wind on me tonight :)

If you can go towards Heathrow then Achari is lovely.

Not posh, but great food. We found it by accident, and have been several times since.
