Picasa web, youtube, Vimeo, Facebook... Is one better than the other? I seem to find that Facebook absoultley crushes videos and they look aweful on there. So which site offers the least compression for the best quality footage?

I much prefer Vimeo the quality seems to be far better than Youtube.
Not tried any of the other you mention though!0 -
I've only tried Picasa once and wasn't so keen. It would be interesting to see the same video on the various different sites so we could debate a comparison. I think you can share FB videos to non subscribers if they ahve the URL... I might get on to that and make a vimeo account tonight.0

I use Vimeo, seems good... Youtube's copyright "protection" ruined it for me, so overzealous (I had a video's soundtrack removed even though the song was in their approved list; so I used their method to add the song back on but their version was about 1 second shorter so screwed up all the cut points. Contacted them to ask to get my original reinstated, they said "No, your song has been removed for copyright reasons", and then stopped responding.
Mate of mine wrote a song himself and put it up, it got taken down for "copyright reasons", wtf?Uncompromising extremist0 -
can't really blame youtube for the copyright stuff they put in place - I think it's right that they remove things that are potentially copyright infrigements. With such as humongous website there is bound to be mistakes made and I'm not surprised they haven't the time to sort out every little error so just leave judgements as they stand. I'd be frustrated too if I were you, but I get their issue.
What they should do is remove the masses of utter wet-dog-swirl so they don't have as much cr@p to deal with. Be interesting if users could have the power to vote things off - ie more thumbs down than up makes it automatically removed.0 -
On the subject of music, Vimeo's announced a library of copyright-free music you can use if you upload to their website:

Vimeo is ok, but you have an upload limit.
Try www.MPORA.com
I've put a few on there in HD and they seem to keep the quality pretty well!0 -
id say it depends what you want. if you want the views go youtube, if you want quality then vimeo is better..

I posted up a comparison video and opened a new thread on it here.
I'm still trying to upload to MPORA which is being a royal pain.0
