I rode the Brechfa red about a year after I started MTBing and it literally terrified me - for the past 3 years I have been convinced it was unrideable (by me) and have avoided it like the plague.....

Anyway, after a weekend spent with these guys http://www.mudtrek.com/ next to Brechfa but riding natural stuff, it seemed rude not to take in the red trail (the only one open) before we went home. So I faced my fear!!

I remembered it as massive berms (which I walked down) and a horrible compression bomb hole thingy which I was dreading - in reality it was fantastic!! I rode all of it no problems at all, loved it and am planning when we can get up there next to have another, faster, go :D

I guess in the 3 years since I had first tried it, I have ridden loads more, ridden in Morzine (in the p!ssing rain  ) this summer etc, and it just goes to show what games the memory plays on you. I remember the berms being massive and scary - they were great fun

So Brechfa is back on the map for me!!!

    Cheers :D

(although to be honest i'm not sure I rode it particularly well - it was just the riding bit that was most important for me, i'll do it better next time! 8) )

    True!

I am already enjoying the benefits of a morning with Jedi - had I not, i'm not sure I would have been brave enough to try Brechfa again!!

Brechfa is on my to do list - quite a few people have said how good/fun it is, even the blue run. I went there but was with an 8 year old in tow so could only do the green :(
