Hi all,

I picked up my new Cannondale CAAD8 Tiagra last night from Evans Cycles which looks sweet!
The thing is, other than the till receipt, the bike didn't come with any other paperwork such as info from Cannondale about warranty etc etc....
I asked if it should come with anything else and was told 'I don't think so' by a confused looking member of staff.

Can any of you advise me if this is normal or if it should have a booklet/paperwork as it's my first bike and I don't really know myself?

Cheers[/quote]

It should, if it's anything like any of the bikes I've bought, come with an owners' manual, maintenance guide, and a sheet of bizarre warnings about the wrong way to ride a bike (do not ride in the dark without lights, etc.)

There should be various owners manuals etc
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I've always had all the documentation relating to each component, so the Shimano stuff for the shifters, crankset + BB fitting docs etc. etc., plus a totally superfluous owner's manual from the supplier (which usually has crap in it about pedal reflectors and not riding off jumps).

I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • Didn't think it sounded right. Even basic things come with manual/care guide booklets these days!
I'll phone up and have a rant!

    Cheers guys

WIth Giant bike I got a box with all the paperwork and extras in it.
    Halfords bike, I got nothing.
  • I've had an email from the customer services Dept, apologising for the poor service from the Lakeside store.
They have confirmed that I should have received a Green Evans folder containing all the Cannondale documentation as well as a welcome pack from Evans with info about the free service etc...

I guess the guy that served me was new, lazy, incompetent or a mixture of the three!!!

Hopefully they'll be able to sort this out.

    Thanks to you all.

You really should go back in an ask to speak to the manager. How is he/she going to know that one of the staff isn't up to scratch if you don't tell them.
  • I would love to but it would mean I have to drive a 60 mile round journey in order to do so. I have tried phoning numerous times today with no answer so in the end, gave up and used the website customer service department.

I have sent them a VERY lengthy email regarding the poor service that I was given by a certain member of staff. Hopefully the feedback will be passed on.

On the plus side though, they originally price matched my bike at £675 from £850 which was the price at Westbrook cycles when I placed the order.
While waiting for the bike to arrive in store, the price dropped a further £75 and the staff had no issues in matching the new price.

I think this bike was an absolute steal at that price so I'm still chuffed to bits!
  • I have had the same experience at the Chill Factor Evans store - purchased a specialized dolce triple 2012 bike last week and got no paperwork other than the receipt, phoned the store and they promised to post me the relevant documents - still nothing has arrived... Think I will have to ring up again
