Getting a Fixie

Morning all, new to the forum, so just prior to my daily commute I wanted to ask some advice from the wise.
I currently ride a Felt QX75 on my daily commute, with which I am well pleased, however due to the ride being in large parts flattish cycle trail or urban jungle, i was contemplating getting a fixie. Just to vary the ride style. I am no skinny runt although 4 months of commuting have knocked me from 19 stone 10 lbs to 16 stone 9 lbs and I am 5ft 9 tall. So are there any other "robust" cyclists out there who rided fixed and would reccomend a good bike? (i have been looking at a Giant "Bowery" or an "On One Pompino Urban") The on one is possible fave, mainly because I am contemplating putting an Alivio hub into the bike if "the way of the fixie is not for me"
Oh forgot to add, budget about £500.
Your thoughts appreciated.
