Looking to fit a stinger, my bike is a 68 BB and runs a M655 SLX double. The chainline is 46.8mm and I have read other people having issue with it rubbing the guard when on the granny ring. The stinger is designed to work on a chainline of 47mm-50mm.

Could I fit an extra small spacer? was thinking stinger, 1mm spacer, existing spacer then the bottom bracket. I found this hope spacer, would this work? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=36416

You should have a spacer and the Stinger with a 68mm BB.

Yeah should be a 2.5 spacer with the stinger on a 68mm BB, but due to the chainline of the SXL M665 cranks I was thinking of adding the extra spacer to stop the chain rubbing the plate on the stinger.

Set it up as per the instructions and see if it works?

Why not, suppose I can always play with the chainline later if it is an issue.

You don't want to mess around with additional spacers. Just fit the recommended sizes. The non drive crank needs to be in the right place on the axle and if you add spacers it won't be.
