Father in law has a pair of Spesh shoes with the cable lace.
It does work, and allows for a much finer tune to the fit, I have no idea what happens if you break it, but he hasn't in 2 years of use. He reccommends them!0 -

I've got some Lake MX140 boots with the cable laces (well "Boa winch lacing") and they work extremely well. Its so much quicker and easier to do up. Just put the boot on and then turn the wheel until tight. And taking off is even easier, just pull the wheel up to unclick and then pull the boot off and the wire lace opens out freely.
Mine aren't yet a year old, so no idea how well they will last. The wires are very thin and I was skeptical at first, but I do often do them up quite tight and they seem strong.0 -
I have a pair of salomon speedcrosses which are trail running shoes with a cable lace. I find the fit a lot better but the cable does seem to stretch after a few months. Still love it though, far easier!0

I have boa on my shoes, they are about 6 years old and I love them. If I ever get some new shoes I will deffinatly look to get boa closure again. My does come undone every now and again but they are so easy to adjust on the road.Sunday September Ultegra SL
