Is a cyclocross bike much quicker than a 26inch hybrid?

Hi was hoping a few people who have ridden both maybe able to help, my commute has got a little longer and have a new bike feeling about me :roll: .
So i mainly ride mtb, i used to ride on the road a lot and race but have sold the road bike :oops: . The bike i have now is a carrera subway frame and forks with everything else coming from old bike etc i;e deore groupset, avid juicy brakes, 26 inch trek wheels (lightish) with city jet tyres.
So would like a faster bike but also want disc brakes and room for mudguards because the bike is used everyday, even in the snow we had last year, any suggestions?
Not sure on a budget yet as i may sell to get some funds.

Yes - take the CX tyres off and put road tyres on - I used to do sportives on the Croix de Fer and it was as fast as many road bikes -

Disclaimer - I have just ordered one of these because I am coming from MTBs and wanted an all-round versatile road bike :-).

Yep. As JDU says, change the types for normal road use.
